41 personnel of private company arrested for involving in killing police in Afgh

KABUL, June 29 -- Police in Kandahar province, south of Afghanistan, on Monday raided the private security company and arrested its 41 personnel for investigation after disarming them at their base, provincial governor Toryali Wesa said.

"Police arrested 41 guards of the company and sent them to Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, for interrogation," the governor told a news conference.

However, he did not identify the name of the company and its responsibility.

The arrest took place in the wake of clash of the company men with police during which seven police including provincial police chief Matiullah Qati were killed and six others got wounded Monday morning.

Locals and police say that the company provides security guards to the U.S.-led Coalition forces who has rejected any involvement in that bloody incident.

Some armed men of this company, according to officials, entered the compound of court at 11:00 a.m. (0630 GMT) in attempt to set free a detainee but police resisted them provoking a firefight, during which over a dozen police were killed and injured.
