BEIJING, April 9 --China is glad to see the United States mending relations with Iran and it supports the resolution of Iran's nuclear issues via dialogue and negotiations, the Foreign Ministry announced here Thursday. "China encourages Iran to make active contact with the concerned parties in a bid to seek a comprehensive, long-term and proper solution to Iran's nuclear issue," said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu. Her remarks came in response to a question about the E3+3 Political Directors' Meeting on the Iran nuclear issue held in London on Wednesday. Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi attended the meeting. In a Wednesday statement issued by countries at the E3+3, China, Russia, France, Britain and Germany welcomed America's new policy towards Iran. Washington announced Wednesday that it will fully participate in talks with Iran about its nuclear program. The move, part of U.S. President Barack Obama's plan to deal directly with Tehran on key issues, marked a reversal of the policy that had been adopted by the former Bush administration. |
